Born in Istanbul: The Origin of Ceremony In Bloom

There is a city that exists on the edge of two worlds.

It is where Europe meets in the waters of a glowing strait with Asia, where the eza floats on rooftops still bearing the memory of the Ottoman spice merchants, where flower markets open before dawn in alleys that have smelled of roses and jasmine for centuries, where the ancient ritual shares the same street as modern design.

This city is Istanbul, and this is where Ceremony In Bloom begins.

A Thirty-Year Journey

The story begins in 1994 not yet in Bebek, but in a different corner of Istanbul, when Ceremony Flowers and Events first opened its doors. As a creative home based on the art of flower arranging and the staging of special occasions, it soon became known with one understanding: the truly thought-out beauty becomes the ceremony.

In the early 2000s, the brand found its permanent home in the elegant Bebek district on the Bosphorus coast, Istanbul's quietest sophisticated address. From a flagship that combines flowers, activities and a vision of a smell that is yet to be formed, the foundations of something larger were laid.

In 2019, Ceremony In Bloom was born, a collection of household fragrances and body care that distilled thirty years of floral art into fragrancemade by hand in small batches, rooted in ritual, not just to be admired, but to live in.

Since 1994, the belief that drives the brand has not changed: the smell is not a decoration. It is a memory, a ritual, an entity.

Istanbul Difference

Istanbul is unlike any other scent origin in the world.

London has gentleman perfumers. Paris has big perfume houses. Grasse has flower fields. But Istanbul has one thing none of them can have: a collision between the East and the West with the most vibrant and undissolved form of the Middle Asia, the Levant and the Mediterranean where the spice roads meet for five hundred years.

This is not history for history. It lives in the materials we choose, the compositions we build and the names we give to our scents. Inspired by the ancient fig gardens of the Anatolian coast.Wild Fig. Taking root in the Eastern trade routes that make Istanbul the world's largest meeting pointRegal Oudbearing the salt air and citrus light of the coastline surrounding the city from all three sides.Mediterranean Bergamot.

When you light a Ceremony In Bloom candle or walk the bars of a diffuser around your shelf in a small but real way you are moving Istanbul to your home.

Small Parties Are Made by Hand, Feels Everywhere.

Every product in Ceremony In Bloom collection is produced in small batches in Istanbul. We do not work with mass production logic. We work with workshop logic: careful, thought out, not just for use, but for experience.

Our design philosophy has always been the same: simplicity in form, intention in material, nothing unnecessary. We believe that in a fragrance market, which often mixes decoration with attractiveness, the product itself should win with the silent confidence of something well thought outnot by showing its place on the shelf.

When it comes from Istanbul, not from a design studio in London or Paris, this is what the premium craft looks like: it bears the weight of a real place and shows it.

Now in the United Kingdom

Since its launch in 2019, Ceremony In Bloom has been shaped by a single focus: making the product right before moving it somewhere. Compositions, containers, ritual language, the relationship between smell and setting all refined in Istanbul, with suggestions from those who discovered or discovered it in the Baby flagship store.

This deliberate pace was a choice, and the UK market is not a market to enter indiscriminately.

This is one of the most sophisticated home fragrance markets in the worldthe market that makes Jo Malone a household name, raises Diptyque from a Parisian curiosity to a global institution, making the Sicilian plants of Ortigia an essential part of independent boutiques. British consumers have seen every version of this category. They know the difference between a brand based on craft and a brand based on marketing.

We believe we are ready, and we believe that the United Kingdom is still lacking its own Istanbul section.

We are here to write it.

Ceremony Begins at Home

What we do is not the smell of a room in a functional senseit's a product to mask or disableit's an invitation to cut the speed, mark the moment, turn the ordinary domestic actions of the morning and evening into something a little more considered.

They become a ceremony.
